JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com -Welcome World Water Day (World Water Day) 2013 which fell Friday (22/3/2013), Indonesia Global Compact Network (IGCN) announced its commitment in menyampanyekan "Jakarta Water Cooperation". Initial Target making biopori it reached 10,000 hole holes scattered across Jakarta. This commitment is expected to be able to offer alternative solutions to reduce the disastrous flooding that has recently been going on as well as the problem of water scarcity in Jakarta.
For that purpose, this activity was initiated by the Working Group is composed of Water, Indonesia IGCN, whose Mandate, in cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as well as the movement Along Ciliwung (GCB). World Water Day 2013 itself was officially opened last week through a dialogue themed Challenges and solutions to Water Problems in post Agenda 2015.
"Multi-sector cooperation in this activity indicates that all elements of society have their respective roles to help cope with the global challenges of water management. We also invite other industry professionals to participate in the activities of the collaboration in the future, water care, "said the President, W IGCN Junardy in Jakarta, Friday.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Working Group's Mandate, the Indonesia Water Wiriadinata Suhendra, Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications Asia Pulp Paper & Group (APP) said, the various efforts and synergies are expected to be able to increase public awareness of the need to have the practice of responsible water management.
"The importance of the collaboration is to resolve the problems concerning water, both at national and international level," said Suhendra.
Suhendra added, there are still many people in Indonesia's territory that has not been able to access clean water in a sustainable way. In line with the Sustainability Roadmap in terms of the development and welfare of the community, it has supported the provision of clean water access program to the community in the operational area of the APP.
"Following the installation of the IPAG60 last year, we (the APP) and provides training to LIPI together operate and maintain this equipment. Whereas in order to ensure the sustainability of the programme, and the APP also guiding LIPI community in establishing a mechanism for the management and use of on a regular basis as well as the distribution of water, "said Suhendra.
He said each unit IPAG60 can produce more than 60 liters of clean water per minute. Thus, these efforts are enough to meet the needs of about 100 families in its operational area.
