JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com -Minister of manpower and transmigration Muhaimin Iskandar (Menakertrans) urged big companies to be able to set aside profits to provide worker housing facilities around the industry. Housing for workers is one of the basic needs for shelter workers.
"However, the current cost of the rental home and house prices have not affordable for most workers or laborers so that it takes the involvement and help from the Government and private companies in make it happen," said Menakertrans Muhaimin Iskandar in Jakarta, Thursday (21/3/2013).
The provision of a home for workers or trade union is one of the efforts to increase the welfare of workers/labourers as well as an increase in work productivity for workers who no longer need to travel far from their residence to the workplace. In addition to the involvement of cross-intansi of the Central Government and the regions, information, provision of home workers Muhaimin also requires the involvement and assistance of private parties to independently provide housing for his workers.
"To realize the workers housing it is necessary Iangkah measures the acceleration of the provision of a home livable for workers/labourers that their location close to work so as to save on transportation costs and rents a House can be reached in accordance with the purchasing power of the workers/labourers," said Muhaimin.
Previously, the Government has formed a team of residential development Acceleration Program Workers Trade Union (P5KP) in 2008 that included representatives from the Ministry of manpower and transmigration Ministry with public housing and public works Ministry as well as PT Jamsostek (Persero) for the provision of the House. Since 2008 the team P5KP has resulted in the construction of flats in an industrial area of PT. Sango Ceramic Industry of Central Java as much as 500 units and in the industrial Rubber Industry PT Deli North Sumatra as many as 508 units.
In addition, the Government also has made the signing of a mutual agreement Between the Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of labor and transmigration and Governor in Indonesia's five Provinces namely Jakarta, Banten, West Java, East Java and Yogyakarta on the provision of rental flats for workers or laborers.
